The picture was stunning. As far as the eye could see fields of ripe, white wheat under a blue sky stood ready for the harvest. Close examination of the picture reveals the most amazing thing: Each individual stock of wheat has a face! In fact, it isn't a field of wheat at all; the field is actually a crowd of people.

People: Jesus saw them everywhere and in everything. He was always aware of His mission. "Do you not say there are still four months and then comes the harvest." John 4:35 recorded it, yet when Jesus spoke these words to His disciples He was not referring to the white fields they were passing, but to the people we come in contact with on a daily basis; people that don't know Him.

Jesus is telling us to lift up our eyes and look around. As Christians if we aren't careful we can get into a routine or rut of life, so to speak. We can find ourselves running on auto pilot. We do the same things, go to the same places, and never notice we actually become immune to the people around us.

There are people we meet in our paths of life who are lost, sick, hurting, depressed, and desperate. They need help; they need a savior. Unfortunately, there are way too many Christians that go through their routine of life and don't even look up and see those ripe fields who are those people needing help around them.

As a child growing up I was raised in a godless home. There were no Bibles in our home. I didn't have a grandparent taking me to Sunday School and we never went to church. We never even gave thanks for our food or prayed for anything. As a result of an upbringing without God I found myself as a young adult filled with anger, bitterness, and emptiness with drugs, alcohol, and all the other things that cannot fill a life but go with a godless lifestyle. No one even breathed the name of Jesus around me until I was 21 years of age. What's really sad about that is I didn't live in a foreign country or remote place. I was raised right here in this land of opportunity. I don't believe my story stands alone.

There are many people all around us that don't know Jesus as their personal savior. They are in our schools, jobs, neighborhoods, cities, states, and country.

Jesus said to lift our eyes and look around. People need what we have a savior, healer and deliverer. Jesus said that the fields were ripe for harvest. If the harvest was ripe 2000 years ago then it is surely ripe now! Every day people die without Jesus. Will you take time to look around you to see who you can impact with the gospel of Christ? Romans 10:13-14 says, "For whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" If you call yourself a Christian then you are that preacher that people need to hear!

Maybe you're reading this article and you don't know Jesus as your personal savior. You've never asked Him to be a part of your life, or maybe you have walked away from Him. Today is a good day to start fresh.

It is simple; just ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and live a committed life with Him. Step into a stunning picture.
